Problem
A customer’s product must meet FCC, UL, and local building codes. The original design did not meet any of these specifications. In order to reduce cost and inventory, a universal product that met all required specifications needed to be designed and manufactured.
Solution
Following in-depth design review, View Thru determined that changing the base substrate from acrylic to a specific aircraft grade polycarbonate would meet all of the items on the customer’s extensive list of requirements at an acceptable cost level.


Problem
A customer was faced with scrapping approximately 40-50% of the polycarbonate windows they were receiving from their current supplier. The windows were ordered through a plastic supply house where the units were being cut to size and shipped without being inspected to any type of blemish specification. The customer was forced to expend the labor required to inspect each window when it arrived for usability.
Solution
View Thru drafted a written blemish specification to ensure that the windows would meet the customer’s need. Our windows are inspected prior to shipment to ensure that no windows containing blemishes outside of the specification are shipped. Thus, the customer was able to use all of the windows received as well as eliminate the time and labor spent inspecting the incoming shipments, which enabled them to determine an accurate actual price for each window.


Problem
A customer was required to redesign a touch screen application to meet several new variables, including higher shielding levels, high ambient light conditions, and UL 94-V0 flammability requirements. In addition, the window needed to be designed into an existing housing with minimal space (less then .020”) available. Normal touch screen shielding techniques that use conductively coated films did not meet the required military specifications. Furthermore, the addition of a stand-alone optical EMI filter would reduce the light transmission to a level that was unacceptable for use in high ambient light environments.
Solution
View Thru designed and manufactured a fully laminated EMI window that used plated fine wire mesh and was less then 0.015” in thickness. The material used in the design met the required UL94-V0 rating and provided a non-birefringent base substrate that also improved the optical quality of the window. The View Thru window was then attached directly to the rear surface of the touch screen using an optical pressure sensitive adhesive. By attaching the window in this manner, reflection was reduced and the overall light transmission was improved, which made the product usable in high ambient light environments.


Problem
A company supplying TEMPEST level equipment to the US government was faced with potential fines and penalties as a result of being late on delivery. The company needed to locate a new optical filter supplier who could supply both qualification and production units in a very short timeframe.
Solution
After one phone call to View Thru Technologies, the problem was solved. Qualification unit were supplied within one week of the initial contact. Production shipments began within two weeks of the initial contact. The customer was able to deliver their product to the government within the contractual requirements.
